Fic!

I wrote fic! And it's smutty and short and inspired by my WiP!

Holy f***.

Kill Bill (vols. 1 & 2)  vid

The Art of Dying Jesus God, Luminosity did an awesome job with this vid. The clips are unbelievable, both in quality and in selection, the effects enhance the vid to eye-popping levels, and the song is perfect. I mean, perfect. I need to rewatch this one a few dozen times to get exact how the lyrics match up, but the atmosphere of the song is like it came directly off the soundtrack, which, as should be known, is the best movie soundtrack ever.

Go. Watch. Worship.

Holy fuck.

I'm reccing this and I'm not even done reading it. Speranza has just posted another Due South masterpiece and holy fucking gods! I've been squealing and swearing and dropping my jaw for the enitre fucking thing. It's called Some Strange Prophecy and jesus chirst I want to see how this ends.

Back to the story.

ETA: See, I asked for the story to stop having plot and turn in to porn halfway through, and you know, it almost did. Gods, what porn. And then all the emotional stuff that was masquerading as plot? It was excellent and ended well.

Thu, Mar. 11th, 2004, 12:34 am

Fandom has been quiet lately. However, some good stuff continues to percolate up.

Good Omens
Naked and Unashamed Crowley and Aziraphale, trying on human feelings for size. The sex is nice, but I would love it for these lines alone:

"Aziraphale shut his eyes in a hurry. 'I think I did it,' he whispered, on the edge of panic. 'I think I did it right.'

'Do you like it?' Crowley sounded like he really wanted to know, as if it was important."

So very, very true.

Due South
Untitled A newbie brings us porn. And what good porn it is, too. I think it could be improved with more plot around it, but as is it is good for keeping one warm on the few remaining cold nights around here.

Passion I've been meaning to rec this since Speranza posted it, but hadn't gotten around to it. I think she's really hitting her stride now, because all of her latest stories have been to my liking. This is all about Fraser discovering what love is and what he needs in life. God, do I love this fandom.

Bound Kass is one of my favorite Due South writers, and she took one of the best Due South icons ever as her inspiration for this hot little flashfic. Ropes and falconry gloves and the Uniform, oh my!

Discworld
Bolero Mmmm, Night Watch. Such a good book, and the fanfic applications that come out of it are excellent, too. I refuse to reveal more, because the surprise is worth it.

The West Wing
sentimental fever Short little piece of Josh/Sam showing just how much of a pragmatist Josh is and how much of a writer Sam is. That doesn't stop the both of them from being unbelievably cute, however.

X-men (movieverse)
Nameless An original mutant fic that is so far from a Mary Sue you wonder at the two things existing in the same universe. Quiet and short and gentle and sad, while still being haiku perfect.

Hee.

Things Just Keep Getting Better Wendi take her Wally-verse and adds the Fab Five from Queer Eye. Highly amusing and very sweet. Yay bounce bounce!

Discworld

A Policeman's Lot Aslighty tasteless drabble that will still have you rolling on the floor. Just go read. ::bursts out laughing again::

Missed this on last pass.

Since I've given in an admitted to my weakness for Harry/Neville, here's one more:

If You're Breathing Harry doesn't always want to be the one to defeat You-Know-Who, and he needs Neville to be it with him.

Yuletide!

Huzzah for the Yuletide ficcers, for they give gifts great and good. And here are some of them:

Vorkosigan books
Unexpected Gifts Three, three, three pairings in one! But not all at once. I will not reveal them, to heighten the surprise. However, the first has one of my favorite characters, and is yay!, the second is a new twist on an old pairing (canon rocks my socks), and the third is splendiforous. I always knew that guy was a switch-hitter...

Daria
Fear and Loathing in Lawndale Ah, Daria/Jane. The sarcastic geek love that makes the world go round. In this case, it took a while, but once you realize it, you can never go back.

Discworld
Tea and Synchronicity This is getting recced solely for the brilliant two second cameo by Carrot. If you don't like it, deal.

An Old Dog Yay Vimes! Especially in character Vimes who understands what he is to Ventinari, and doesn't care. Such a good little vignette.

Merry Hogswatch to All (And to All a Good Night) It's Discworld femmeslash. With the Night Watch. Marvel with me for a moment. Then go and read this, with a hearty toast of scumble to author.

Due South
It Was a Very Good Year A rarity here indeed. It's het. Cute, romantic, mushy, Frannie and Turnbull het. Let me just say: awwww!

An Officer and a Gentleman More het. Ye gods. Frannie and Welsh and what a cop's life is. Go Frannie!

Kill Bill
Kou-gyaru Yes, you read that right. Someoen has written Kill Bill fic. In fact, it's even femslash. Gogo and O-ren have more to them than meets the eye. The end is iffy, but the rest is note perfect.

Ruse
Time Stands Still I mourn the passing of my favorite comic series, but this fic makes me feel better, resolving the UST as it does.

Sherlock Holmes
Out of This Room One of my original fandoms gives me joy. Three possible endings, two sad, one happy, all infused with love. God, I love my boys.

Yami no Matsuei
Adorable It's short. It's cute. It's in character. I like it. Ok?

Hitch-Hikers Guide to the Galaxy
The Galactic Miscellany Just when you thought Douglas Adams was dead, along comes someone to channel his spirit. This is that author. Grab your towel.

Thu, Dec. 18th, 2003, 09:52 pm
Procrastination before break = things to read over break.

Buffy
Living Dangerously Ah, Andrew, that living embodiment of fan-service to the geek set. He's dorky, clueless, sorta evil, and clearly, gay as a sea monkey. If only he would stop living in denial. He does, and it's cute.

Sir Gawain and the Green Knight
Sweetly and Steadily The pairing is obvious. The fandom is obscure (in the good, literary way). And torch makes Gawain into the knight we always knew he was, complete with guilt and valor. Lovely, lovely story, even if the end is heart-breaking.

West Wing
Things To Do in Cleveland When You're Overcoming Denial Sam and Josh during the campaign, featuring Clueless!Josh and Pining!Sam. I think I like it because Sam is just so Sam and Josh is just so Josh you can't help liking it.

A Strange Spot in the Sky It's the Sam/Will that comes after the Sam/Josh. The future is rough on my boys, so I'm glad Will can make better for one of them. Sam/Will just must happen, and this shows it late, but good. The second person voice is also excellent.

Keep Looking The great thing about the West Wing is that there can be so much beautiful heart-breaking angst that still ends well. This is angst, but when you get to the end, you see the beauty and the faith. Oh, how I love my woobies.

Due South
Without A Net Wacky caper cases are the best cases. So are cases where Fraser has to wear leather jackets and tight jeans. This is both. The sex at the end is not necessary to make it a good story, but still, pretty boys kissing!

Harry Potter
The Trouble With Harry Potter I keep wandering into this fandom against my will, then it does things to me. I knew this story had to be written from the moment I finished book 5, so when I found it, I was delighted. The delight grew when it happened the way it had to. Neville with a spine is beautiful, especially since he's right.

When It Alteration Finds Four things that never happened to Remus Lupin. I love Lupin, so this look at him in each of the four Houses is right up my alley. Always in motion, the future. And boy, does this show it.

Vid
Uninvited Oh my god. Hannibal and Clarice. One of my personal favorite all-time totally fucked-up pairings. The song is perfect, the clips are perfect, and the whole thing captures the flavor of the fucked-up relationship they have in the books, without introducing any of the changes from the last book or the end of the last movie. I'm in love. It's deeply sick and wrong love, but love nonetheless.

Apollo/Midnighter slash list

Wed, Nov. 19th, 2003, 07:49 pm
I don't read this fandom. I don't read this pairing. And yet...

Lust over Pendle You see, it was the summary that dragged me in, kicking and screaming. And then, well, I couldn't stop. To quote said summary:
A comedy of manners, in the Golden Age detective thriller genre, set in the year immediately after Voldemort's fall. Lust Over Pendle begins when a Daily Prophet paparazzo manages to take a sneak photograph on the beach at an exclusive Indian Ocean hideaway resort, and the families of both Neville Longbottom and Draco Malfoy find themselves Very Startled Indeed. But is it only family ructions that are set off by the shockwaves resulting, or could it be that the entire Western European wizarding world is in jeopardy?

How could I not read that? It's ludracrious in the best sense of the word.

Tue, Nov. 18th, 2003, 01:16 am
It's a whole passel of fandoms!

Holmes/Watson
Mistaken Guh. Drooling fangirl delight, this is. Short, powerful, totally Holmes, and pushing all my H/W buttons.

The Maiden Voyage of the Tiresias Also a delight, but I'm not entirely sure Holmes is in character. Of course, the rarity of this fandom and the quality of the fic makes me ignore this quibble. Especially since I was practically cooing at the end.

Due South
Reading Between the Lines What can I say? It was nummy. And had Pushy!Ray and PissedOff!Fraser. And desk sex. ::looks petulant:: I'm allowed.

West Wing
Kabuki and the Beast CJ eats bad sushi. And drinks too much sake. Things go steadily downhill from there, to hilarious results.

Your Next Bold Move They updated! They updated! It's part two of the "Bridge the Schism" trilogy and I'm a happy fangirl. I think I liked part 1 a little better, because of the ensemble working so well together, but the Sam/Josh stuff going on makes this one interesting for me to want to follow. Plus the Will Bailey in the story rocks my world. I just knew Will could be used beautifully in slash.

Farscape
Be My Princess Leia Once, long ago, I watched Farscape for a while. So when I saw a Farscape story with heavy Star Wars references, my little fangirl brain jumped up and down in glee. Plus, it's funny.

Star Trek: Voyager
Calculate Solution Yeah, yeah, I'm reccing one of the people who reads these recs, but you know, *it was damn good*. Also, as a look at the Doctor and his guilt despite being just a program, it's brilliant. So, let me bask in my love for a good Doctor story and shut it with the protests of favoritism.

Harry Potter
Four Things That Never Happened to Remus Lupin Don't give me that look. Just because I avoid this fandom does not mean I don't occasionally venture in. Especially for a good werewolf story. A look at Remus, one for each House.

ER
The Dating Thing It's funny. It's femslashy. And the OMC in it is brilliant. I haven't read through the whole series, but I might just do so for his sake.

Vorkosigan books
Your Voluntary Love It's the (in)famous Ivan/Byerly fic. Which is actually good and in character and I ever so slightly wish were canon. Spoilers through A Civil Campaign.

Buffy
No Power on Earth Um, snerk? It's Xander, it's Spike, it's sans chip and plus snark. In other words, it's just damn fun.

Buffy/?
Forgotten Girl If I tell you the other fandom, it'll ruin the surprise. Safe to say, however, one might want to brush up on one's Gaiman first.

Yum.

Have come across a series involving werewolves, both Rays, Fraser, and vampires. The writing was a bit iffy at first, but well, the concepts got to me. Especially since there is lots and lots of talk about Pack and what it means. Yay wolves!

Update!

The Bible
Yup, the long promised Bible smut. In Principio is God/Lucifer and it's beautiful. Why don't more people slash the Bible?

Smallville
SHIFT.perspective Guh. Just guh. Te melted my brain with this one. A PWP with a Chloe, Clark, and Lex sandwich. So fucking HOT.

Due South
Everyone's Irish on St. Patrick's Day Um, I hurt something laughing at this fic. Drunk!Fraser in all his glory. With a special apperance by Pig-Latin!Turnbull.

Believe You Me Speranza breaks your heart and gives you hope at the same time. Damn the woman, she's good.

Into the Wild This story gives me shivers (the good kind) everytime I read it. Fraser in handcuffs has to be one of the hottest things ever invented. Except maybe Carrie-Anne Moss in black vinyl on a motorcycle.

lean Low on word count, high on beauty. And angst. But the good kind.

The Pretender
Because I have a weakness for obscure fandoms and Jarod is just so cool.

Long Way Home Gen fic. So in the spirit of the show it could be from an episode. And the OFC is wonderful.

Star Wars
Three Days, Two Nights, One Lifetime I'm a sucker for good Star Wars fic. Especially any fic with Vader acting paternally towards Luke. Even when Luke doesn't know it.

In Another's Eyes Nice Anakin/Vader perspective. Not quite sure if I agree with the portrayal of the Force, but the rest is spot on. Not that I needed more reasons to love Anakin.

Sith Academy I know some of you have read this before, but for the rest of you, go and read this now! Darth Maul living next to Obi-Wan! Jedi Masters in drag! A cat named My Apprentice who mind-whammies Sith Lords into doing her bidding! Dartha Stewart! And Darth Mary Sue, Darth Maul's long-lost sister!

Parody Sue
Tangerine Fairchild's License to Kill I've been reading Mary Sue sporkings over at [info]pottersues, so I felt the need to post a really good parody of a Mary Sue. Multiple fandoms skewered.

Vid Recs
Hot New Videos Having viewed three out of four of these, I can tell you that they are good. The Holmes one has a great, great song and uses the Jeremy Brett series for its visuals, making it loverly. The two multifandom ones have fun songs and work pretty well. Some of the visuals get repeated a few times, but that's ok.

Istanbul, not Constantinople A Due South vid that is funny as all heck. Using the BNL version of the title song, it juxtaposes the two Rays to hilarious effect.

I am Fangirl! Hear me squee! (and melt into a puddle of goo)

Resonant wrote sequels to some of her due South stories to celebrate her anniversary as a slash writer. My brain melted when I read them.

Homemaking Sequel to the hilarious Housekeeping it's smut and Ray being sweet and Bondage!Fraser (my favorite Fraser).

Borealis Snippet sized sequel to Adorned that hits one straight in the mush-center.

Display Yes, Resonant, giving Fraser a tattoo in Teeth of the Hydra was one of your better ideas. Especially because the fans and Ray agree he looks so damn hot with it.
